According to Ayurveda “Agni” is responsible to convert the consumed food into body elements (Dhatu) by “Pachan Sanskar” (Digestion). But due to improper diet(Ahar) , changed lifestyle (Vihar) this “Agni” get vitiated which leads to “Mandagni” (weakened digestion) and ultimately it causes various signs and symptoms like anorexia, heaviness in Abdomen, chest and body, gases, sour and bitter belching, heart burn, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramp and chest pain, headache, palpitation, uneasiness, loose motions, dysentery, backache, constipation, disturbed menses, burning urination etc. When these signs and symptoms persist for a long duration they produce disease so treatment involves pancha chikitsa, Sanshaman and Sansshodharo Chikitsa.
